Dragon Con, Part 2 of 4

Dragoncon is an event unlike any other. This year was no exception. Over the course of this week, we will share some of our favorite costumes from this year’s big show! You can see the full gallery on our facebook page here.

I love when costumes get cheeky. This Moaning Myrtle made me laugh out loud. Harry better watch out.

Larry Croft: Tomb Raider. This guy was FIERCE! Does Lara have a brother?

Among all of the costumes, there was a section of puppets, including a huge FALCOR puppet!! Look at him! Never ending story!

I absolutely adore original takes on common costumes. I LOVED this take on Deadpool. It’s not often you see Wade’s scarring. Well done!

This Umbreon gijinka is absolutely gorgeous. Just look at her! This take on the dark eevee is beautiful.

You all know that at Cos Couture, we promote body positivity and cosplayers of all shapes and sizes. That is why I got SO excited when I saw this Barta! Holy Cow, she was amazing. Look at her! She could absolutely take on all of Apokolips!

This wonderful woman puts the beauty in Beauty and the Beast. This dress is stunning and she brings it to life. She glided across the floor like royalty.

A great aspect of Dragon Con is group costumes. Check out this huge Game of Thrones group! Each one was fantastic on their own, so put them together? Winter is coming.

I personally am very excited for the new Mass Effect game and I was not alone in that excitement at Dragon Con. Check out this gorgeous Asari. Her make up was spot. on. And she knew how to work a pose.

Mysterio is one of those Spider-Man characters that is rarely done, and even more rarely done well. This master of illusion looked spectacular. Or maybe it was just a vision…

Speaking of rare Spider-Men, not everybody may recognize Lady Spider (a steam punk female spider-man from the Spider Verse series), but whether you knew the character or not, this costume was dang impressive.

That’s all for today! Check back tomorrow for even more Dragon Con costumes!

Also, before you go, I’d like to take a second to tell you about Themyscira. Themy is a group that provides a safe community for women to have open forums for social issues and a safe zone for women who need to escape dangerous situations. What started out as a facebook group, has grown into having safe zones at conventions, emergency phones that people can call, counseling, and so much more. Unfortunately, all of these wonderful things cost a lot of money.

After much discussion, we are going to try to become a full on nonprofit. But we can’t do that without your help. Below is a link to our new gofundme. If you can, please donate to the cause. If not, please just share the link. Anything you can do is truly appreciated! Help us make our community even bigger!

  • I think part of my weakness for 1940s hair is how *neat and pretty* it is at the same time as it's *securely stowed.* Pin these styles well enough (and maybe even pomade them a little, I don't know), and you don't have to be terrified of wind. You can go on about your business without forever worrying about your hair. And that's. ~relieved sigh~ That's worth somethin'.

  • I hate victory rolls, beehives, and a lot of pin-up hair styles for this day and age, but some of these are JUST low-key enough to be used on occasion

  • If you don't have bobby pins, try it with two hair ties. Start by pulling the back half of your hair into a high ponytail using one tie. Then, pull the rest of your hair into a larger ponytail around the first. This will give you the height and pop you are looking for!
